Frequently Asked Questions
What is Transcodes?
Transcodes is a desktop app for one AI Persona. Persona is an onboarding manual made of an Instruction, Rules, Skills, and a Knowledge Base. Apply the same Persona to Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, and Antigravity. One person on this computer is free. An organization is $6 per accepted member each month (launch price; regular $9).
What is Persona in Transcodes?
Persona is a reusable AI onboarding manual. It combines an Instruction, focused Rules, repeatable Skills, and a Knowledge Base of durable facts. On the home page, Rules are called Guidelines and Skills are called Work tools. See https://transcodes.io/docs/persona and https://transcodes.io/docs/persona/knowledge-base.
Which AI apps does Transcodes Persona support?
You can apply the same Persona to Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, and Antigravity. Cursor Personas are applied per project. Claude Code, Codex, and Antigravity also support global Persona on the current device.
Does one Persona work across Claude, Gemini, and OpenAI tools?
One Persona applies to Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, and Antigravity. It is not a separate setup for Gemini or OpenAI.
Do I need to know how to code?
No. Download the Transcodes desktop app and use it to create, edit, apply, and sync Persona. The Windows installer is x64, supports Windows 10 and later, and should be run as administrator. See https://transcodes.io/docs/persona/cli-dashboard.
Where are my Personas stored?
Personas are stored locally under ~/.transcodes/personas/<name>/ on your device. Applying Persona writes the host files on that device. Versioning publishes a numbered revision so another machine can get the latest. See https://transcodes.io/docs/persona/versioning.
Can I share Persona with teammates?
Yes. Sign in and use Synchronization in the desktop app. Upload to Remote publishes a new numbered revision to the organization. Teammates get the latest, then apply it on their own device.
What is the Knowledge Base?
The Knowledge Base holds durable facts the agent must not invent — product names, URLs, token names, brand decisions, approved claims, and API contracts. Every Persona has one. In the desktop app it is its own section next to Instruction, Rules, and Skills.
How do different roles use Persona?
A project manager, designer, or developer keeps an Instruction, Rules, Skills, and a Knowledge Base for that work, then applies the same Persona to Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, and Antigravity. See https://transcodes.io/docs/persona/use-cases.
How is sharing Persona different from Git?
Git versions the files in a code repository. Transcodes publishes numbered Persona revision from the desktop app. A teammate downloads that revision and applies it on their own device. See https://transcodes.io/docs/persona/vs-git.
How much does Transcodes cost?
One person using Transcodes on this computer is free for life. An organization is $6 per accepted member each month (launch price; regular $9), starting with the first member. A pending invite is not billed. See https://transcodes.io/pricing. Organizations that use Transcodes are listed at https://transcodes.io/customers.
